Keeping our children safe in school

Holywell International School is committed to ensuring that the welfare and safety of all our children whilst in our care. We believe that learners have the right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment which includes the right to protection from all types of abuse.

Our staff are vigilant and look for signs of any learner in distress, this enables us to reach out to such children and help address any safeguarding issues they may be exposed to whether at home or within our school community.

Safeguarding is everyone business: to ensuring that every child is safe from the harm or the risk of harm, be it Physical, Emotional or Neglect. We also ensure that every child is safe from bullying, safe from discrimination or harassment.

Safeguarding Statement

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. It is recognised that this can only be achieved through sound safeguarding policy and procedures, making use of good inter-agency co-operation and a better working relationship with parents and guardians is vital.

We also ensure that our recruitment process is effective with quality assurance principles, taking into consideration the need for due diligence. These measures ensure that all our staff are deemed safe to work with children.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We ensure that our concerns about our learners are discussed with their parents in the first instance unless we have reasons to believe that such a move would be contrary to a child’s welfare.

If a member of our staff is concerned about a child’s welfare, they will record their concerns first with the General Supervisor as soon as possible on the same day.

If a member of staff has concerns which relates to the actions or behaviour of another member of staff (which could suggest that he/she is unsuitable to work with children) this will equally be reported to the General Supervisor immediately.
